Drupa organizer to target printed electronics market

Drupa organizer Messe Düsseldorf is responding to the growth in printed electronics by running Printed Electronics Products and Solutions (PEPSO) at six relevant trade fairs at the Düsseldorf exhibition center.

Printed electronics are becoming attractive in many user sectors for which Messe Düsseldorf stages shows, ranging from children’s books with lightswitches and wafer-thin luminous tiles, to handbags with mobile phone chargers built in.

Heidelberg showed printed electronics as part of its Innovation Gallery at Drupa 2012, which has now been relocated to Germany and was featured in Package Print[Print?:printing image graphic cutting solution] Worldwide issue #3, 2012.

PEPSO will be organized by Messe Düsseldorf in cooperation with ESMA, the European association for specialist printing[printing?:printing cutting finishing solution] manufacturers of screen, digital and flexo technology, with the goal of mutual support in the field of printed electronics products and solutions.

PEPSO showings are planned at COMPAMED 2013, EuroShop 2014, EuroCIS 2014, Glasstec 2014, Interpack 2014 and Drupa 2016.

‘In establishing PEPSO, we have therefore given the subject a platform of its own and are integrating it in the trade fairs for the retail trade, glass processing, packaging[packaging?:DCP-H series packaging sample cutter plotter], printing and medicine,’ says Hans Werner Reinhard, deputy managing director of Messe Düsseldorf.

‘We’re in an ideal position to offer producers of printed electronics marketing showcases for specific target groups.’

Peter Buttiens, chief executive officer of ESMA, said: ‘The printing industry is ready to vertically integrate functionality and electronic applications.

‘This agreement is an ideal opportunity for the printing community to embrace the many industries and markets covered by Messe Düsseldorf’s range of world-class exhibitions.’
